Press: Redefining Classic – Reliant Yachts Announces New Build

FEBRUARY 27, 2017 – Reliant Yachts of Newport, Rhode Island announced today the first of three new builds they have under contract for 2017, the X40.

Jim Ewing, principal at Reliant Yachts, stated, “Including the Commuter 40 which we completed last year, each of the first four motor yachts that we have been contracted to build will be unique. This next build, the X40, is a modern interpretation of the express yacht and reflects the owner’s desire for a sporty, contemporary design that will be at home on the Riviera.”

Ewing and his partner, David MacFarlane, have long been known for their involvement in two of yachting’s classic names, Trumpy and Alden. When asked if he sees this as a departure from classic design, Ewing replied, “Actually no – of course for a yacht to be truly classic it needs the context of time to establish historical merit, but for any yacht that has achieved classic status, the fundamental principles most certainly were impeccable use of scale and proportion, attention to detail in both styling and performance, and the excecution of the build. We intend to accomplish that with every yacht we build.”

The X40 will be a luxury yacht in every sense of the word. Carbon fiber composite construction, 40 knot plus speeds, removable top, genset, air conditioning, joystick control, state-of-the-art electronics, leather seating, refrigerator/freezer, Seakeeper stabilizer, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system are just some of the X40’s features.

The X40 is slated for completion in early 2018, and will be delivered to Italy to be used as a luxury tender to a large new construction mega yacht. More information will be forthcoming throughout the year as the build progresses. For more information contact Reliant Yachts at info@reliantyachts.com.
